These are the individuals and corporate sponsors who have made this chapter of Spread The Love possible. They continue to reflect the inspiration and spirit of Spread The Love, caring enough to do something.

  • Turn on your radio, grab a newspaper, watch the news tonight. You'll likely receive stories about dodgy politicians, unending court cases, national scandals, broken families — all the negative stuff. Where's the good news? Why don't we hear enough about the people doing good things?
  • Because we believe it's time to appreciate our community's positive change-makers, this year's Spread The Love activities will culminate in a celebration of the honorable men and women who've taken deliberate steps to better the city they live in. We will honor them at the inaugural Spread The Love Honors Night. It will be an evening of recognition of the people behind the positive, encouraging stories happening around us.
  • We welcome you to nominate anyone you know who deserves to be recognized and appreciated. Check out our Honors categories below, then fill in the nomination form here.

Spread the Love began when Kijiji Entertainment brought together a group of friends and they decided to bring real change to their surroundings despite their limited resources. A few months later, they had raised 2 million shillings towards mattresses and beds for inmates at Industrial Area Remand Prison.

A year later, they created The Month of Love. During the course of September 2010, about 1300 volunteers lent facelifts to six Nairobi police stations. Embakasi Police Station album

Being Extraordinary: Start here. Here's our little instruction manual to getting in on Spread The Love's journey towards being extraordinary.

1. Show up
Our Month of Love activities will be happening all through August. This year our main focus is on prisons, where we'll visit inmates, make donations and carry out construction and refurbishing of prisons, all geared towards getting people to do something extraodinary. See the calendar below for details.
2. Celebrate
There are people doing awesome things to change Nairobi. But mainstream attention will likely be paid to those who aren't. We intend to recognize those extraordinary individuals showing us the way to go. We like to call them our Love Luminaries. Do you know any? Nominate them here.
3. Start thinking 'What Next?'
The Month of Love is only the beginning of an incredible journey into discovering what we're capable of. After it's over, we will continue to have conversations on the little things we can do to change Nairobi.
